Dhoop represents the Gandha (fragrance) aspect of the senses. A Satvic sense of depicting a pure Gandha sense is the Dhoop. Dhoop is made from 7 rare natural herbs and perfumes, and is a soft, slow burning Indian incense. It can be used for daily dhoop and hawan. Before using the dhoop it should be mixed with pure desi ghee.
The 7 rare natural herbs used for making the dhoop are Rai - Black Mustard Seeds, Raal, Laal Chandan - Red Sandalwood, Safed Chandan - White Sandalwood, Jatamansi - Spikenard, Kapoor - Camphor, Guggul - Guggulu.
While performing Puja burn the Dhoop and offer to deity, upon the completion of Puja take Dhoop on you and spread it in the entire house. This wards off & keeps the evils away from your place.
